US Census Bureau Presentation: The Hispanic Population

Merarys Ríos-Vargas has a Masters degree in Demography and a BS in Sociology from the University of Puerto Rico. She started her career in the US Census Bureau in 2006 as a Survey Statistician in the American Community Survey Office, working for the Education, Communication and Outreach Staff. While at the American Community Survey Office, she worked closely with the Public Information Office in several outreach projects for the Puerto Rico Community Survey, including the development of training materials, PRCS data users workshops, as well as participating in the coordination of Media Events, such as press conferences and press releases for Puerto Rico.

Since May 2007 she has been working as a Statistician Demographer in the Ethnicity and Ancestry Branch where her research has been focused on Hispanic Origin reporting patterns and demographic characteristics of the Hispanic population in the United States and Puerto Rico.
