Over the past decades, Latinos in America, especially women, have gone thru a renaissance of growth and have broken barriers previously unattainable for many in their community. Latinos have grown exponentially in the past years in both demographics and academically. This growth has strengthened the Latino influence not only in college attainment, but in science, technology, engineer, mathematics, government and the economy. With the influx of talent from the increasing rate of the Hispanic population in our country, Latinos now are at the forefront of creating an important role in the future of our nation by become the scholars and leaders who will inspire both the hearts and mind of many young Latinos.

Eighteen years ago, LATINA Style’s founder Anna Maria Arias had the vision of creating doors that would lead to better opportunities for Latinas, including the corporate world. With the support of the Department of Labor and several Hispanic organizations, Anna Maria Arias launched the LATINA Style 50 report in 1997. The LATINA Style 50 Report is the most prestigious study in Corporate America to evaluate companies based on the opportunities provided to Hispanic women. The report provides invaluable data professional Latinas inquire when entering the workforce or when choosing to stay at a company. Key information includes: benefits, training, mentoring programs and leadership opportunities. This year, LATINA Style took a closer look at each company’s Hispanic employee resource group, which often opens the door to opportunities in the company. LATINA Style also pays close attention to companies that support returning service-members, especially Latinas.

In 2014, participating companies took the initiative to build a stronger support structure to ensure women’s issues are address, especially issues that affect minorities and Latinas. One excellent example of a company that strives to be a leader in their community is Comcast NBCUniversal. Their focus on diversity and inclusion is honorable and sets an example for other companies. Comcast NBCUniversal is determined to provide increasing opportunities to Latinas in senior executive level positions.
